Four County EMC Stand Ready to Respond
As Hurricane Dorian crawls up the coast, Four County EMC continues to monitor the storm and will be ready to respond to outages as quickly and safely as possible. Extreme conditions are expected to accompany the storm, including dangerous storm surge, flooding and high winds, creating hazardous situations and wide spread power outages. This will cause down power lines, broken poles and possibly some areas our crews will not be able to reach due to high waters. more

Local Student Visits Washington D.C. During Youth Tour
This summer, North Carolina’s electric cooperatives sent 45 exceptional high schoolers to represent their communities in Washington D.C. on the 2019 Electric Cooperative Youth Tour. This year Four County EMC sponsored one rising senior on a week-long trip to the nation’s Capital. more

Four County EMC is honoring teachers and celebrating innovation in education this month by awarding Bright Ideas grants to educators in Bladen, Duplin, Pender and Sampson counties. The education grants will fund engaging classroom learning projects that will benefit more than 3,000 students who will participate in the Bright Ideas projects funded by Four County. more



Four County is Prepared for Potential Impacts of Hurricane Michael
Four County EMC is closely monitoring the path of Hurricane Michael and are ready to respond to any power outages. While the storm is expected to have less impact to our state than Hurricane Florence, Michael’s wind and rain could bring down trees and power lines in areas where the ground is already saturated, resulting in power outages. more

Four County EMC Hurricane Florence Recovery 6 p.m. 9-23-18
Four County EMC has restored service to more than 99 percent of its members as of Sunday afternoon. The remaining services are either inaccessible because of flooding, washed out roads or homes that have damage that must be repaired by the homeowners before power can be restored. Crews will continually monitor the flooded areas closely so repairs can be made as soon as possible. In some areas, employees and crews assisting are using boats to get into these areas to survey the situation and make repairs. more

More than 97 percent of Four County EMC members have power after Hurricane Florence stalled over our service area for several days. As of 10 p.m., approximately 982 members remain without service. more

Four County EMC assisted Mojotone LLC and Pender EMS and Fire, Inc. secure loans through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Economic Development Loan and Grant program. The USDA provides zero-interest loans to utilities which can then be passed on to local businesses for projects that will create and retain jobs for rural communities. more

Four County EMC Send Crews to Sister Cooperative in Georgia to Assist with Power Restoration
Four County Electric Membership Corporation will send 14 linemen and field crews to assist communities in Monroe, Georgia that were hit by Tropical Storm Irma. The men will leave early Wednesday morning, September 13 to help restore power in the hardest hit areas. more

Local Students Celebrate 50 years of N.C. Youth in D.C.
This year, North Carolina’s electric cooperatives sent its largest delegate class to represent the electric co-op community during a weeklong trip to Washington, D.C., called the Youth Tour. Forty-five ambitious and driven high school students visited the Capitol, continuing a co-op tradition now 50 years strong in North Carolina. They joined 1,800 students from across the country to meet federal elected officials, participate in networking events and learn about our nation’s history and the importance of civic engagement. more

Four County EMC Storm Update
Five days after Hurricane Matthew left approximately 29,000 members of Four County EMC without power, 97 percent have service restored. About 150 of the approximately 648 waiting to receive electricity are in flooded areas of Harrells, Ingold and Currie. Even if the area directly around the member is not flooded, the terrain where the repairs are needed may be flooded or washed out. more

Four County EMC nominated Dr. Wirszyla in recognition of his dedication to students and for winning Bright Ideas education grant funding for his project “Sustainability of the School Garden Center.” more



Basketball Camp Scholarships Available for Middle School Students
Four County EMC offers basketball camp scholarships for rising sixth through eighth grade students. Boys may apply for the Roy Williams camp at UNC-Chapel Hill and girls may apply for the Wes Moore Wolfpack Women's Basketball Camp at N.C. State University. Two local students will be awarded scholarships, one for each camp. All expenses for the overnight camps will be paid for by Four County. more

Four County EMC linemen, Jay Willoughby, Randy Anderson, Gregg Mobley and Brett Noble, just happened to be at the right place, at the right time on the afternoon of March 17. These men came to the aid of Mrs. Barbara Matthews at 178 Corinth Church Road in Rose Hill by putting out a grass fire that had spread under her house. more

AWARDS FROM FOUR COUNTY EMC MAKE DAYS BRIGHT FOR LOCAL TEACHERS
County EMC is honoring teachers and celebrating innovation in education this month by awarding $19,666 in Bright Ideas grants to educators in Bladen, Duplin, Pender and Sampson counties. The grants will fund 23 projects that will touch the lives of more than 6,000 local students. more

Four County EMC and North Carolina’s electric cooperatives have pledged nearly $600,000 to the state’s teachers in Bright Ideas education grant funding for the 2013-14 school year and are accepting grant applications beginning April 1. Grants of up to $2,000 will be awarded directly to educators for creative, hands-on classroom projects that would not otherwise be funded.
